Tom Cruise Top Gun sequel still getting mentioned
It has been 25 years since Tom Cruise appeared as Maverick in the hugely successful fighter pilot, action movie Top Gun. And for 25 years there has been constant talk of a Top Gun sequel being made, but Top Gun 2 has yet to make any progress towards being made.
It has previously been reported that Paramount Pictures has made an offer to director Tony Scott and producer Jerry Bruckheimer about returning for a Top Gun sequel but nothing has yet been agreed. It is also believed that Christopher McQuarrie was on board to pen the screenplay but nothing has yet appeared.
If Top Gun 2 was to be made, it would be interesting to see if original cast members such as Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer, who played Iceman, could be persuaded to reprise their famous roles. For now though, we’ll just have to sit tight. I wouldn’t hold my breath though.
