There has been a long running myth in Hollywood for many decades now, that as a woman gets older, the roles for her in the acting industry begin to dry up, with many people suggesting that an actress would be wise to make the most of her career while she is still young enough to land the roles that are worthy of a talented movie star.
However, this has been proven to be nothing more than a myth time and time again, especially when you take a look at the Hollywood career of the veteran Hollywood actress Salma Hayek, who has been working in Hollywood for many years now. Salma has continually come up against the odds during her career and has always managed to come out on top.
When she was first trying to make a name for herself in Hollywood, Salma Hayek was told that she would not have a long or successful career in the business, due the her Mexican accent. Yet Salma has been landing consistent acting work in Hollywood for decades now and is showing no sign of slowing down. Now, with Hayek in her 50s, people have again suggested that the acting roles would dry up due to her age, and again she has beaten the odds, as she is busier now than ever before.
Salma Hayek will next be seen on the big screen in the new movie Beatriz at Dinner, which sees her starring alongside the likes of John Lithgow, Connie Britton, and Chloe Sevigny, among others. Beatriz at Dinner has been directed by Miguel Arteta, based on the script from Mike White, with the movie set to open on June 9.
