Robert Downey Jr is full of praise for the Marvel Cinematic Universe

When we think about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one of the first people we actually think about is Robert Downey Jr, who has made the role of Tony Stark aka Iron Man his own, making it hard to replace the actor once his contract with Marvel does eventually come to an end. There has been a lot of talk about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a number of the top stars expected to leave after The Avengers 4, leaving question marks over whether we will see Robert back as Tony Stark after that film.

For now though, Robert Downey Jr is still here and, as well as getting to see him back as Iron Man in Avengers: Infinity War and The Avengers 4, we are also going to see the actor making a return as Tony Stark in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. Robert has now been talking about his part in the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, heaping praise on the way these movies have been brought to the big screen.

Downey Jr explained, "What happens to me is that things are presented to me that are really well thought out by folks that have been doing this correctly for a really long time, and I go like, 'Check.' This 'Homecoming' thing turned out very well ... People have been starting early screenings of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming', and they say it's absolutely a 10 out of 10."

He added, "I certainly enjoyed participating in it, and I think this will be one of the big Summer hits. Being back with Tom Holland and [Happy Hogan actor] Jon Favreau, it's just crazy. And it reminded me of that kind of first Iron Man experience. It's a straightforward Spider-Man movie. There's always opportunities for heavy-hitters dropping in to kind of support him."

Spider-Man: Homecoming will open on July 5.
