The 2014 Oscars are just a few days away and things are really beginning to heat up, especially with the Best Actor in a Leading Role category, which is proving to be a very tough one to call. This years Academy Awards is arguably one of the toughest to call for quite some time but that has not stopped people from giving their opinions on who should win what.
From looking around the internet for a little bit, it seems that Dallas Buyers Club actor Matthew McConaughey has become the favourite to take home the Best Actor in a Leading Role Oscar. Matthew has really come into his own in the past few years, afer spending a number of years being involved in some very average movies.
Clearly something has clicked with Matthew McConaughey and his performance in Dallas Buyers Club was magnificent, so it was no surprise when it was announced that he had received his first ever Oscar nomination. While Matthew does appear to be the front runner for the Best Actor in a Leading Role award, it will certainly not be cut and dry and would be a huge achievement.
The Best Actor in a Leading Role Oscar is full of brilliant actors whohave all turned in great performances, so whoever wins can be extremely proud of themselves. As well as Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club, the Best Actor in a Leading Role nominees are Bruce Dern for Nebraska, Chiwetel Ejiofor for 12 Years a Slave, Christian Bale for American Hustle and Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf of Wall Street.
The 86th Academy Awards will take place on March 2.
