British actress Kate Beckinsale has enjoyed a very long and successful career in the acting industry, making some very interesting decisions when it comes to the roles she takes and the movies she agrees to be a part of. With that said, there have also been some roles that Kate has rejected over the years, which has had her fans questioning why, including that of Wonder Woman.
Gal Gadot has impressed as Wonder Woman but 10 years ago there were plans for a different Wonder Woman movie to be made, with Joss Whedon at the helm and Kate Beckinsale wanted as the lead actress. However, Kate says that the script for that Wonder Woman movie was nowhere near as impressive as the latest film, which is one of the reasons she rejected the offer.
Beckinsale was recently chatting to Yahoo! about the role, when she said to them, "The incarnations that I was seeing were… [after a pause] They weren’t this one [the 2017 film]. [Also], I don’t know if I was desperate to be in a leotard. I’d already done the rubber trousers. You have to take in that you have a child at some point and how much could you possibly embarrass them."
While we have loved a lot of Joss Whedon's work over the years and we are looking forward to seeing what he does with the Batgirl movie, we do have to admit that we are glad that his plans for a Wonder Woman movie never got made, as we might not have got the great Gal Gadot starring project we have today.
