When it comes to the world of comic book movies, it has to be said that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is leading the way but we have to admit that the X-Men movie universe has been very impressive along the way, despite a few disappointments along the way. While we were not overly impressed with the last outing X-Men: Apocalypse, we were pleased with some of the new additions to the X-Men cast.
One addition who we were hoping to see more of in the future movies is Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, so we were delighted when it was announced that the next instalment of the franchise would be X-Men: Dark Phoenix. While we knew that there would be certain characters returning for the new movie, there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding those who had already fulfilled their 3 movie contract.
Many people suggested that X-Men: Apocalypse would be the last we would see of Jennifer Lawrence in the role of Mystique, since her contract was one of the ones to expire. However, it has now been confirmed that we are going to get to see Jennifer back in that role for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, much to the delight of fans all over the world.
As well as seeing Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, X-Men: Dark Phoenix will also see James McAvoy as Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and Nicholas Hoult as Beast, as well as Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. X-Men: Dark Phoenix expected to be directed by Simon Kinberg, with a November 2, 2018 release date.
