Harry Potter magician talks real world magic
Pete Heat, whose show has been called Massive Wizard, functioned as a magical coach on the most recent Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film; he was tasked with teaching magical to none other than Jude Law.
"He told me he needed a bit of help doing magic for a film, I asked him which film and it turned out it was one of the biggest films of the year: the second film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Pete continued by saying:"This is going to seem a bit nostalgic, but Edinburgh can be still a magic location."
"I'd only met him once before very briefly at a charity event, so I was really surprised.
Pete explained:"There's a scene where Dumbledore keeps creating a card with an address about it appear and disappear. He is trying to hand it to Newt. For some reason, Newt keeps turning it down and Dumbledore keeps which makes it reappear in various places. I educated Jude just how exactly to make this card appear from an empty hand and I also taught him how to twist a batter around as if he'd held it that his whole life as Dumbledore would have.
Pete's skills feature throughout the film and contribute to Jude Law's convincing portrayal as Dumbledore. However, one scene in particular allowed Jude to show off the magic tricks he had learnt.
"He was straight in at the advanced level. He was really good and he took to it straight away."
Getting to create magic in a city so strongly linked to the world of wizards is quite something indeed.
"He had been cast as Dumbledore and he wished to learn some true magic, some sleight of hand, so he could manage the wand as a magician could. I moved round to his house and educated him some magical to Warner Brothers."
Before the film was released, Pete was asked by the A-lister to teach him sleight of hand. Jude Law had the skill because of his role as Dumbledore - and also - took to the area as quickly as you would anticipate.
"Basically Jude had gone around the Graham Norton Show and started speaking about me by name, telling me the anecdote about me and me arriving around his home "
Needless to say, working with a film like Fantastic Beasts requires discretion, some thing which Pete took very seriously. One afternoon that his cover has been blown and he was permitted to tell the world his narrative.
Pete continued: "I wasn't sure if I could talk about it initially because it was all top secret. I knew about the cast and the name of the film before anything was announced, so I was keeping it off social media. However, one evening my phone started going crazy with all these texts saying 'Graham Norton'.
Since JK Rowling attracted us the Boy Who Lived with her first book in 1997, Edinburgh has been considered a magic city, with unbreakable links to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
