Ghostbusters star Melissa McCarthy almost gave up on acting
Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy has become one of the most popular and sought after actresses in the business, landing plenty of very interesting roles, in some very exciting projects. However, things almost did not turn out this great for Melissa, as she has admitted that there was a time when she almost decided to give up on her dream of becoming a Hollywood star.
McCarthy explained, "Acting wasn't working out, I was getting rejection after rejection, I wasn't even getting auditions - I couldn't get a job to save my life. I always said if I don't get anything substantial by the time I'm 30, I'm done. And a week before I turned 30, I got 'Gilmore Girls'. Things weren't 'bad' but I had been working two jobs and I got to a point where I thought, 'Why am I doing this? Why am I beating myself up?'"
She added, "Acting never would have left my life, I would've acted in some way, but I'm so fortunate that this is now my occupation. I still find it surreal doing interviews and understanding why anyone would want to talk to me. So to try and get my head around the idea that anyone wants to see me act, that in itself is ludicrous."
Melissa McCarthy can currently be seen on the big screen in the new Ghostbusters movie which, despite the negative comments from the impossible to please fanboys, is actually a very good movie that deserves a lot more praise than it has so far received. Keep up the good work Melissa, we are big fans.
