Demi Lovato backs Carrie Fisher for fighting the body shamers

It is fair to say that the new Star Wars movie has been a huge success and we were all delighted to see many of our favourite characters returning in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, including actress Carrie Fisher in her legendary role as Leia. However, it seems that there have actually been some people who have been very mean to the Star Wars veteran, criticising her for the way she has aged.

This led to Carrie Fisher hitting back at the body shamers, with the actress taking to her official social media accounts to say, "Please stop debating about whether or not I aged well. Unfortunately it hurts all three of my feelings. My body hasn't aged as well as I have, Blow us." You tell 'em Carrie.

Well now, music superstar Demi Lovato has spoken out in support of Carrie Fisher, letting the Star Wars legend know what a great role model she was. Demi said, "Major props to @carrieffisher... This woman has been through so much and yet she still doesn't let the haters get to her. Awesome example for women of all ages everywhere. Thank you @carrieffisher.. You are #goals." We couldn't agree more.

We loved seeing Carrie Fisher back in her greatest role ever, giving us a solid turn as Leia in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, and we hope we get to see even more from her in the next movie, Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is set to hit the big screen on May 26, 2017 in both the US and the UK. We cannot wait!
