This Halloween, ABC is doing something different. While other networks are sticking to the usual formula of airing horror movies, cult classics, and themed episodes of regular shows, they have worked with Disney's Pixar to bring the Toy Story gang to the small screen.
The half hour Halloween special titled "Toy Story of Terror" reunites Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Wallace Shawn as Rex, and Don Rickles as Mr. Potato head, among others. In the short film, the Toy Story gang sets out on a fun road trip that takes a scary turn when they stop at a roadside motel. One of the toys goes missing, and the others try to unravel the mystery of their missing companion before they all suffer the same fate.
This new visit from the gang provides a welcome break for parents who long for something besides the same old rerun of shows like 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,' and other cult classics for kids such as 'Hocus Pocus.' While these are great movies (hey, their classics for a reason), ABC deserves some major kudos for giving parents something new to share with their kids during this fun time of year. Even better, this goes beyond the simple trick-or-treat Scooby-Doo type mystery that networks usually choose to air during this time of year.
'Toy Story of TERROR' will air Wednesday, October 16 at 8pm ET.
